Natural Remedies to Improve Wellbeing

Let’s be real, anxiety and stress is something that almost all of us experience from time to time. We are all living in more complicated, chaotic times. From deadlines, to working, to getting the kids to and from school, homework, laundry, housework, and more. We feel like there’s never enough time in the day, and its natural to feel frazzled and overwhelmed at times. By not taking actions of these feelings can greatly impact our quality of life. Here are a few natural approaches on improving our mental health:

Tinctures

Tinctures are concentrated herbal extracts, that sit in organic grape alcohol and clean mountain water. Herbs are infused for a minimum of a 6 week period, allowing all the natural components to come out. Tincture drops can be put directly under the tongue, diluted in water, or put in hot water to drink as tea—the alcohol evaporates and the medicine stays in the water. A 2 oz bottle usually lasts about 1 month, depending on your dose and how often you take it. Tinctures have a 6 year shelf life when kept free from contaminants and when stored out of extreme heat and direct sunlight.

A couple of tinctures directed towards improving mental health:

1.) Stability is a powerful synergistic blend of herbs that are proven to help emotional balance during periods of emotional imbalance and duress. The ingredients are a tried and true combination of safe, organic herbs that can be used for both adults and children who are having a difficult time managing stress and emotions.

2.) Kava comes from the Pacific Islands, where people have used it for centuries. Kava is known to be a potent anxiety reliever, and a non-alcoholic way to wind down at the end of the day, especially if you’re working late or you have trouble falling asleep. The secret lies in kavalactones, the psychoactive parts of the kava plant. The kavalactones (approx. 8%) in a few drops of kava tincture, can put you into a rare state of relaxed focus. This is why we recommend taking it before public speaking, or before going into a situation that may cause you to be anxious. Kava also has muscle relaxer properties, which makes it an excellent choice when experiencing pain and / or cramping. And, because Kava has such a powerful way of stopping us from overthinking, it is a perfect choice for those who can’t shut off their mind and get to sleep.

Essential Oils

Using aromatherapy activates areas in your nose called smell receptors, which send messages through your nervous system to your brain, which allows oils to activate certain areas of your brain, like your limbic system, which plays a role in your emotions. A lot of us think essential oils means we must need to have a diffuser, but, that’s not true. There are a lot of different ways to get the benefits of essential oils besides a diffuser. From using aromatherapy diffuser jewelry, roll-ons, adding a few drops to your bath, and my personal favorite, especially for calming aromas, inhalers. Some of my favorite oil blends for mental health:

1.) Blue Funk is formulated to increase sensory and emotional well-being.

2.) Calm Down promotes a tranquil atmosphere during the day or before bedtime. A favorite for explosive energy in adults and hyperactivity in children.

3.) Anxiety X is especially formulated to block the physical and emotional affects of anxiety. Anxiety X may help to induce relaxation, reduce nervous tension, uplift, relax, calm, and regenerate.

Herbal Tea

Don’t get me wrong, I love my iced coffees, and am definitely a ‘coffeeholic’. But there’s nothing like sitting down with a cup of warm tea, and having that instinct warmth and relaxation. Certain herbal teas have natural properties that can help tame stress. Some examples:

1.) Sacred Tulsi (Krishna Holy Basil) Rose Tea speaks right to the heart. Together, Tulsi, Rose, and a hint of Lemon Balm will help you find calm, inner peace and balance. This healing and calming blend makes an extremely refreshing, soothing and aromatic cup of tea, and is a good choice when you want to slow down and just “be”. Tulsi has been used for over 2,000 years by Ayurvedic practitioners to help combat stress and it’s negative impact, and to support immunity.

2.) Mojo Tea, caffeine free, was blended for taste first, but it still has the unique medicinal benefit of each individual herb. Overall, Mojo is a relaxing tea that delivers a magical toad drinking experience. It is a wonderful choice for newcomers to the herbal tea world.

3.) There are many mood enhancers out there, but few are as healthy, tasty, and as effective for lifting your spirits as Blue Funk herbal tea blend. Each herb in The Herbal Toad’s Blue Funk has been carefully chosen to work in combination with the other ingredients in order to promote happier days and peaceful nights.
