Elderberry vs Tamiflu

Elderberry vs Tamiflu

Black Elderberry (Sambucus nigra) tincture is my families choice for cold and flu viruses, both type A and type B. It's a natural remedy that has no side effects, is inexpensive, andhas been around for thousands of years. In the world of Elderberry we very much prefer a tincture over syrup, gummies, or any other method. You can read up on that here:

Why We Love Elderberry Tincture - sooo much more than syrup.

but for now, let's discuss the benefits.

ELDERBERRY

A clinical trial done during a severe flu outbreak in 1992-1993 in Israel showed that black elderberry treated/cured flu symptoms faster than Tamiflu. Another study performed in Oslo, Norway in 2002, also confirmed the amazing efficacy for type A or B flu victims of several different strains. Returns to the state of wellness mostly occurred in two days while a few were well in three days. Tamiflu took 4.5 to 5 days. It took 6 days or more for the flu victims on placebos to recover. There were no side effects from taking elderberry in either study.

Elderberry contains several healthful immune boosting properties, including antioxidants, tannins, vitamins A, B, and C, and flavonoids, just to name a few. But it’s best known for knocking out the flu right when it starts, so it’s important to take it immediately upon having symptoms.

OTHER INGREDIENTS IN OUR ELDERBERRY TINCTURE

Our Elderberry contains several healthful immune boosting properties, including antioxidants, tannins, vitamins A, B, and C, and flavonoids, just to name a few. But it’s best known for knocking out the flu right when it starts, so it’s important to take it immediately upon having symptoms.

Echinacea: Even the National Institute of Health admits that it’s shown to be effective when taken immediately upon experiencing symptoms of the cold or flu. They also state that it’s used effectively to treat: urinary tract infections, vaginal yeast infections, genital herpes, bloodstream infections (septicemia), gum disease, tonsillitis, streptococcus infections, syphilis, typhoid, malaria, and diphtheria.

Hibiscus: Hibiscus has a number of uses, but we put it in our elderberry cold and flu fighting tincture because it is high in key vitamins that helps support a healthy immune system.

Rosehips:  Rosehips share many uses with vitamin C, including preventing and treating colds, flu, and vitamin C deficiencies.

Cinnamon: Cinnamon has been historically used to treat the cold and flu, and counteracts congestion, warms the body and enhances digestion. It has also been used for treating gastrointestinal distress and stomach spasms.

TAMIFLU

Not only is Tamiflu only partially effective, but it is expensive, and difficult to get during a serious flu outbreak. The side effects are not only unpleasant, but dangerous as well. In fact, it is banned in Japan because of how dangerous it is. The World Health Organization (WHO) has admitted that Tamiflu is not as effective as previously believed.

The only positive of this very expensive medication is its promise for symptom relief for a period of one and a half days out of six of flu. But the side effects mimic the flu symptoms anyway! Common side effects include vomiting, fatigue, dizziness, vomiting, headache and coughing. Worse, over half of 10,000 test cases of Tamiflu, over half exhibited unusual behavior after taking Tamiflu. That behavior was sometimes as extreme as attempting or committing suicide. In addition, there is evidence that the use of Tamiflu creates an invitation to secondary bacterial infections. Very unsettling considering that the 1918 flu pandemic reached an epically high death toll largely due to secondary bacterial infections.

A SHORT WORD ON THE FLU VACCINE

Dr. Gabriel Cousens and Dr. Russell Blaylock, among many others, recommend avoiding vaccines. Vaccines are not always effective, and can in fact, weaken the immune system, leaving you more sus to others strains of flu, cold, etc.

I always suggest seeking out a doctor that embraces natural wellness and seeking a good, reliable, honest opinion as to whether or not the benefit outweighs the risks.

A SUPER POWERED ALTERNATIVE TO SYRUP

Elderberry Echinacea tincture is a super powerful concentrate and a wonderful shelf stable alternative to elderberry syrup. With the tincture, you only need very tiny doses. We’re talking 0.5 – 1 ml. The Tincture is a better option for those with migraines as the syrup will sometimes trigger a migraine. Plus, it’s easy to hide that tiny amount in juice or really…anything.

We use only the highest quality herbs that are certified organic, holistically wild crafted, and/or locally grown. Our herbs are tinctured in organic alcohol and fresh mountain water (free from harsh chemicals and fluoride treatments). This combination acts as a carrier, bringing the needed remedy straight to the blood stream to work fast and effectively. Tinctures are absorbed in the mouth and stomach and bypass the slower intestinal system which may or may not absorb the needed constituents of capsules. We hand make these wonderful herbal preparations in small batches. Tinctures are poured off into dark glass bottles creating a great product with an optimally long shelf life.
